Google Selling Newspaper Ads?
November 24th 2006 22:44
Could Google go offline with its Adwords program? It's starting to look like it. The online advertising king is testing print media ads in several major US markets and so far there is no news that these test runs will slow. The next logical step would be to implement the system and start offering the ad space to the Google Adwords Clientelle.
The way it appears to work is Google Adwords users will now be able to purchase ads not only online using their Adwords account, but also offline. Google will have a certain amount of ad space within the newspapers and will sell that space out to the highest bidder.
Is this a sign that the print media is desperate for help finding advertisers or that Google is drunk on profits?
I think both.
